Belgian content?
First off, it’s great that Youtube has finally recognised Belgium. Just plain great. Congratulations are in order!

Belgian content has been, up until now, very difficult to find in the massive amount of videos that are published on Youtube every day. Trying to promote Belgian music or short film on Youtube is not that easy, part of the reason being that the content immediately disappears in the mass because they aren’t viewed that much.

According to the news, on YouTube.be, you should now be able to see which videos are popular in Belgium ONLY. Until now, the only ‘featured’ or ‘recommended’ content was almost exclusively from the US or the UK. I am really excited that there will be some popular content from Belgium shown now.

The article in De Morgen also mentions that the RTBF is already sharing some of it’s content on the Belgian version of Youtube. If this means the start of a new era where more Belgians (artists, movie makers, …) are sharing their official content, I couldn’t be happier. Will this be the case? We have yet to see…

So, I’m excited. I want to be able to find some awesome content of my home country.

But Will it work?
But… – yes… there’s always a but – Personally I don’t believe that many youtube fans in Belgium will make the switch. While Youtube.be does claim to promote Belgian content, after a first quick peek, I can’t notice a big difference with youtube.com (or any difference at all, for that matter).

I’m hoping this changes in the very near future because the main advantage I see in this is that it’s supposed to give Belgian artists a fighting chance to connect with their local audience. Or at least that’s what the intention is. Without any real difference in content between youtube.com and youtube.be it’s kind of super useless do make a distinction.

All in all, we’ll see what this brings. Any opinions? Tell me your thoughts!

So.. Welcome to my all new website! I wanted to change my old one in ways that I could incorporate a blog like structure.

Why? Because Blogging Is Cool. (same goes for bow ties – Bow ties are cool).

Part of the reason for this change for the better is that I want to share my musical life online a bit more thoroughly. I promised myself I’d be posting regular updates (obviously. It’s a blog). As such, I will be sharing my adventures in composing and producing through the aid of the wonderful medium of youtube video.

Actually, about that… I’m excited about how it will turn out as it’s kind of an experiment really. I’ll be doing something a bit different than your everyday reason tutorial. In the “Let’s Play Reason!” series, I’ll be recording my creative workflow on the spot as I start making music and comment on what I am doing and why at the same time.

If people can post entire series of “let’s play -insert just about every game title-” (and they are quite popular. Check it out, it’s insane), I’m sure I can pull off entertaining at least some viewers with how I make my music inside Reason, while at the same time being a bit instructive.

So let’s hope you guys learn a bit and enjoy watching these. Of course, regular old tutorials like ‘how can I make a screaming, soft, extravagant, not-so-totally-like-this-producer-but-sorta-similar-ah-what-the-hell-I-really-just-wanna-copy-this-synth sounds’, will arrive soon aswell. More on that later.
